Learning is fun!

Today we were working on our Instructional Writing in pairs. We had fun trying to solve our mixed up Fairy Cake recipe. It was hard to think about what a recipe needs and what was in our recipe. To make things even trickier we had to work out two parts - the cake and then the decorations. But we got there in the end and they are on display in the classroom. Here are some photos of us working in our pairs.

For math time today we were learning to identify 2D shapes and their features. This is our focus this week. First we played a guessing game with Mrs S and we had to guess what shape she was feeling in the box. We did this by listening to the description of the shape - how many edges and corners does it have - and then we put our ideas forward. Some shapes were tricky but we solved it. After we played that game we spent time matching the name, shape and features together in our books. Those that finished these quickly went outside and created shape drawings. Here are some of the creations.

Did someone say disco?!

At 6pm on Friday Hornby Working Mens Club was inundated with children and parents ready to dance the night way. The lights were low, the music loud and we all had such a fantastic time. Everyone was smiling and we all went home happy but tired.

3D shapes

We are back at school and bursting to learn. This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes and identifying their features. Our favorite part was getting to make some shapes. They were tricky at times. We had to use out problem solving skills to work out how the tabs worked and how we glue it all together.

Book Character Day

What wonderful costumes Totara have come in today. We have fairy tale characters, non fiction people and a great range of fiction characters. Here we all are from Year 3 to Year 5.

And the whole class!

Wahoo!
