Celebrations!

Well done Ruby on winning the trophy for being a rising star in your swimming. We are all really proud of you.

And thanks to Jacobs parents for buying him this very cool Chromebook. Now Jacob can do his school work at home and at school. No waiting for one to be free either. How lucky is he!

Constructing

Winter Sport finally began on Friday and so a third of our class went of to play hard but fair at Hagley Park. This left a group of us to participate in the junior sport rotation and do some construction building. With our topic being Electricity Mrs S set the challenge for students to create something that would need to have a circuit in it. It could be something they know has a circuit or something they could create from their imaginations. Everyone got very busy with their creating and came up with some wonderful ideas.

Financial Literacy with GetWise ASB

We had a guest visit our classroom today. Michele from GetWise ASB came to teach us a little bit about how to look after our money.

It was a lot of fun and the students were in fits of giggles at the different people Michele acted out. We learnt about trading, safe places to keep our money (not under the mattress) and the difficulty of keeping silver and gold in treasure chests (to heavy). We played a game where we did a 'chore' to earn some money. And 3 lucky students went shopping to buy a scooter with $100.

Here are some photos from our financially fun morning.

Today's Happenings

Today was a busy day. Short weeks tend to be busy, so much to do in so little time.

For writing we are beginning our Narrative Unit. Writing narratives is lots of fun. You can create characters, imaginary worlds, exciting adventures or scary scenes ... the list is endless. We began today by working in pairs to write 3 sentences using words from a book that were randomly picked out. The words were 'gymnastics', 'floor' and 'proof'. Here are some photos of our stories.

Aren't they fantastic?! The class then did some acting out of different types of feelings. It was pretty fun and funny to watch. A lot of us learnt new words like tentative, boastful and generous. Parents if you are wanting something fun to do with your kids you could play this game together at home. Get your child to give you the instructions.

We also had the pleasure of a Science Alive visit. How lucky are we?! Writing and Science all in one day!
