Snow!

Everyone arrived at school very excited by the possibility that there might be snow and we weren't disappointed. At about 9:20am Kylie said to William "Look William, snow" and we all rushed to the window. That snow flurry didn't last very long but about 20 minutes later it was really snowing and so we all put our jackets on and rushed outside. Soon the whole school was outside enjoying the snow. For a few of us it was our first snow ever. 

During writing time we worked on writing some poetry about snow. We each wrote our own poem and you can check those out on our personal blogs.

Welcome to Totara

On Monday we welcomed 10 wonderful new faces into our classroom. It is great to have them joining us in our fantastic learning space. While the noise level may have increased a little it is great having a few more people to talk about our learning with.

Birthdays and Flutes

Today one of our class members turns 9! Cyriss is very excited to be a year older and we think he looks older already. He is going to have a special fish n chip dinner with his family. Sounds yum Cyriss!

We also have seen one of our class members share their talent. Sophie brought in her flute and played us three so gs that she has been learning. We really enjoyed hearing Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hot Cross Buns and your own song Sophie. We look forward to hearing more later in the year.

Easter Fun Day

We made it! We survived an 11 week term and to finish the term and celebrate Easter we had Easter Fun Day.

First we all got dressed up in our Easter Hats.

Second we spent the morning creating and making with Matai. Here are some photos of our fun time.

And finally the whole school went to the library and we displayed our easter hats and did some egg jarping. It was pretty fun and it didn't matter that it rained all day. 

Time for Play

Being the last week of school Mrs S promised us some different ways of doing literacy. Wednesday was our 'do a play' day. We were very excited to be able to do plays. Here are photos that show you what we did.

We also spent time with Matai in the library, showing them our Chromebooks. We really love showing off our ICT.

Hockey Tournament

At YMS we are really into our sport. Through out Term 1 we were having weekly Hockey lessons with the lovely Haley. On the 15th of April we had a combined Senior Hockey Tournament. Here are photos from the day. Check out the Totara students working with their team to win all the games they were playing.
